Week One — Scans, Cascades, and Selection

The re-entry days behind you, four days that all turn on reading something correctly before acting: an image, a herniation route, a closing loop, and a patient who has to be able to lie still and talk.

01

What this is

no new material

**No new material. Harder questions.** Day 01 said the scan holds safety facts the report does not. Day 02 gave four herniation routes, each compressing something different, and one absolute procedural prohibition. Day 03 gave a loop that closes in a brain with no reserve, and a second catastrophe twenty minutes later when the clot comes out. Day 04 said the technique argument in awake craniotomy is largely settled and largely unimportant next to patient selection. Two of these days are about a decision made before the patient is anaesthetised — what the imaging shows, and whether this person can do what the operation requires. The other two are about the moment the physiology turns on you.

4 days
  1. N2 · 01 Read the Scan, Not the Note Neuroimaging
  2. N2 · 02 Which Way the Brain Is Moving Neuroimaging
  3. N2 · 03 The Hostile Cranium Emergency craniotomy
  4. N2 · 04 Awake Enough to Map Awake craniotomy

Answer first, then read. Checking the day before answering turns retrieval practice into rereading, and the two feel identical while you are doing them.
